Artist Statement

Rico Gatson is a Brooklyn based artist who works in mixed media. His work is concerned with pattern, accumulation, identity politics, spirituality, history and beauty. His barn quilt is an abstract painting in a color palette associated with African Flags or a Black Nationalist sensibility.
