Artist Statement

Stephen Edstrom is a multimedia artist who works primarily with steel fabrication, stained glass, and metal casting, with a particular interest in iron casting. Edstrom describes the process of casting iron to that of a team sport mixed with fire and dance. He is mesmerized by the growth and transformation that metal casting affords his practice. His art objects often draw on aesthetics from the Roman and Gothic Eras, heavily rooted in process.
