Artist Statement
There are moments of our past that we carry with us everyday. The burden of this weight becomes more cumbersome with each passing minute. A point comes that we must relinquish the past to accomplish what we want in our lives. The Things We Must Leave Behind becomes the metaphorical marker of our psychological baggage. Molded from an old suitcase, this 300-pound cast iron suitcase embodies a part of my past I have finally decided to leave to rest. This suitcase is one of several pieces a part of a series called Baggage.
