Artist Statement

Are objects inanimate and lifeless? Or do they carry the feel, spirit, breath of a person? A light left on, an old bicycle, and a handmade wooden chair. I am naming this sculpture for my cousins Peter and Matthew, who passed away as young men when I was a child. I almost shared a similar fate after a bicycle crash in 2014. The objects I have found and made in this sculpture are imbued with my spirit. By making this sculpture and giving it a part of myself, I hope to connect with and celebrate theirs. This is my gift to them and my entire family.
