Artist Statement

Since the late 1980’s, Constance Mayeron Cowles and Fuller Cowles have worked as a high-energy collaborative team that makes two distinct but related bodies of work: deceptively large, indoor and outdoor sculpture, and smaller objects for domestic interiors. Exploring surface and volume, and how materials establish or alter the perception and mood of an environment, the two artists create functional work that includes large-scale chairs, benches, ottomans, and jardinières, as well as commissioned fountains, plazas, permanent and temporary installations, and custom-designed interior spaces. Whether public art or private commission, their work is characterized by a bold extroverted spirit and richly hued tactile materials.
