Artist Statement
A recumbent body is usually sleeping, sometimes dead. What is missing is what gives this form context, what shapes the air between stone and metal. Drawing parallels between death, corporeality, and metallurgy, I electrify the spaces in between raw materials. My most potent reference material is imbued with some kind of drama or tableau – a birth, a marriage bed, a tomb.
