
Snow Sculpture Weekend Workshop
with Heather Friedli
Friday-Sunday, February 9-11, 10am-4pm
Spend a weekend creating large snow sculptures at Franconia with artist Heather Friedli! Heather Friedli is the captain of Team Kwe, North America’s first and only all Indigenous Snow Sculpting team (Kwe is an Anishinaabemowin term for woman). Workshop participants will work in teams of three to build snow moulds, design, and carve sculptures that will be on display and illuminated at night for winter visitors.
All participants will enjoy three delicious hot catered lunches from Fiddlehead Kitchen (including gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options), and you may also spend the weekend in Franconia’s residency house (limited rooms available).
Dates: Friday-Sunday February 9-11, 10am-4pm
Price: $170/person (includes three hot catered lunches); $270/person includes Friday & Saturday overnight in Franconia’s Residency house.




ABOUT HEATHER FRIEDLI
Heather is an oil painter and snow sculptor, and is a first-generation descendant of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians with family heritage with the Indigenous peoples of Sonora Mexico. While in the studio Heather creates landscape paintings about the natural word, creating Land and Heritage Inspired Art. Heather has been sculpting snow for 15 years, winning both the State Snow Sculpting Championship in 2016, and the National Snow Sculpting Championship in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin in 2019 on Team Dino Fight. Heather also recently participated as lead pro-sculptor in the reality TV snow sculpting Disney Show called “Best in Snow” with team “The Bah-Humbugs” on Disney+ in 2023. Heather runs her own community art gallery and lives in Saint Paul, MN.
