To meet the needs of our rural community, Franconia has launched a new arts learning program providing FREE guided tours of the 20-acre sculpture park, hands-on art-making workshops, or both, for groups, schools, and organizations serving rural youth in Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Pine, and Washington counties of Minnesota. Transportation reimbursements are also available.

Come be a part of the fun and hands-on creativity! During each workshop, students spend the afternoon creating sculptures with the assistance of Franconia staff and resident artists. Event organizer, Woody McBride has scheduled an eclectic mix of Minnesota’s most talented musicians to perform for you in Franconia’s idyllic outdoor Earthen Amphitheater. Grab a blanket, bring a picnic, or pick-up a bite to eat from the food vendors and enjoy the relaxing musical afternoon. Participate in an artist-led tour during the band break. Cast metal artists from around the world converge at Franconia to create cast metal sculpture and we invite the public to participate in the unique art-making process! Witness artists working a furnace that heats up to 2700 degrees F, as they pour 8,000 lbs. of red-hot molten iron atop Franconia's crane truck. Savage Aural Hotbed, Minneapolis’s found-object percussion band, performs three pulsating sets atop Franconia's crane truck. Bring the family and make a day of it! |
Make your mold during a workshop and have it cast during the Hot Metal Pour on August 3rd! You’ll create a unique relief sculpture by carving your design into a mold that will then be cast in iron. To learn more about the process click here. Workshops are lead by Franconia staff and experienced metal casting artists.No charge for the workshop, nominal fee to purchase a sand mold. Franconia Sculpture Park operates with the objective to make its exhibition, programs, and services accessible to all people, including individuals with disabilities.
- The grounds of Franconia Sculpture Park are flat with gravel and mowed pathways. All trails are passable by electrically powered chairs.
- There are two 4-seater golf carts available upon request for those needing assistance touring our exhibition or attending our programs.
- Parking, information, and educational facilities are physically accessible for those with mobility impairments, in accordance with the ADA.
- There are 3 accessible public restrooms.
